Caregiving Poem #18

One of these road trips I’ll get off
this pretty highway
and go see Lupa Zoo.
O Babe, one of these back-and-forths
I’ll take some alone time,
go see Lupa Zoo.
And whenever I do get my heels
inside those Lupa gates
I’ll skip the buzzards. Yes,
I’ve already seen the buzzards.
Just now in low foliage
they poked at a tawny deer.
Just off this pretty highway
not far from Westfield — O Babe —
birds on a dead deer.
Yes someday soon I’ll make that turn,
go see pink flamingos
at Lupa Zoo.
