Month 2:11

I was thrilled in my first French class, overjoyed to be studying a foreign language. Learning words in another language was like filling a trousseau, gift-by-gift, eager to take a new name in marriage.

NOTE: Today’s simile is in honor of foreign language classes and teachers. The university in Albany is eliminating programs in French, Italian, Russian, Classics, and theater because of funding cuts.

  1. Language is a gift, truly.

  2. A lovely tribute to language teachers. It really is a gift they are giving, only we don’t always think that when we first begin to learn!
